There is alot of things to consider... fact is to do anything we need dedicates team like the former lesig to play characters and develop a story its alot of work for probably little reward...

Here’s a meta take on where we could start: At the end of MxO the Machines were dissatisfied with their standing in the faction wars. Armed with the “big red button” they did something no-one saw coming, a fit of rage INSIDE the machine that changed everything: they disconnected all the Redpills in effort to soft reboot the Matrix and regain control. But then something happened that surprised even them, the Matrix didn’t reboot… it crashed. Complete BSOD-loop that could not be resolved, even after years of trying and reverse engineering. Faced with losing everything, one rogue machine, now turned Trojan horse against its own infrastructure, found a way to perform a system restore… to the first STABLE point it found… the start of MxO… before Morpheus was killed… when everyone was just waking up.

Thats a very interesting concept....but rewriting the entire book? As deffdog said. Its a phenomenal amount of effort for no reward

I don’t see it that way. This way we can effectively start over without getting tangled in the weeds (edited)

I get that, but I think there’s a fair amount that aren’t happy with where the franchise went, especially with Resurrections

I think its fairly safe to say most if not all members of this discord are able to easily compartmentalise resurrections

I like @Deffdog idea of going in a more GTARP route with RPing. We really don't have the player base to really do the grand overarching storyline that Monolith and SOE did, so we may have to think smaller. Maybe conflict between a Cypherite hovercraft and a EPN hovercraft, or Machine operatives try to steal data from a Zion stronghold within The Matrix and Zionist operatives are tipped off about it. That kind of thing.

Well here is my idea of starting points. Needing something that starts more personal for the player. And its the blue pill coming to the realization there in the matrix. And that needs to be more than just a one day thing. It took several encounters with Neo till he made the full jump.

This may be out of scope for role playing so I apologize if it seems silly. I have always been curious about the low level tech/programming of the matrix. I think it would be cool to have a program character who was in charge of “memory allocation/deallocation” of the matrix. The program in charge of tracking and deciding what programs get deleted and created. Although this may be too powerful for a role playing game.

Same way he's able to 'see' the machines after his eyes are burnt, or being able to be in the train station without being physically jacked in. He apparently has some kind of wireless link, a connection to the machine network the way machines do. (edited)

Not sure I buy it. I think there’s a better understanding out there, Or, potentially, there’s not. From a writer’s perspective, it was a neat/explosive/exciting way of avoiding the plotholes of how they get into the Machine City. (edited)

I don’t think the machines necessarily wanted to sniff him out. I thought “the one” was just another form of control. The machines were continually unable to stop the system crash and humans rejecting the matrix. So they decided to “guide” the system crash to a controlled end state and reset. “The one” just falsely “led” the resistance to freedom which was just a system reset and a new matrix with the lessons learned from the previous iteration. I agree, but I also thought Neo was supposed to be a new breed of “The One”, one that hasn’t followed the script.

Well I’m not clear on if Neo is just so different on his own or if it was an attempt by the machines to change the anomaly’s characteristics. Was him being more of a “wildcard” part of the script and the machines lost control of the situation? Sort of like Agent Smith going rogue!

@Kernel Have at it! I've kickstarted the Roleplay by crafting a transmission-based narrative. There is no hard and fast way of doing it, I just chose that as it fits well for the medium and lore. The only rule is you stay in character

Feel free to write your own story, told using any format you wish. The only hard and fast rule is you must stay in character. I started a storyline (must get back to it, actually) that was told through the transmissions broadcast from a marooned hovercraft.

This isn't the real game and it isn't complete. Right now it's just an urban simulator. If you've never played MxO before it will not be fun. It's mostly for nastalgia of people played it in the past

A side-note to those who are curious about RABBIT's mission: To run RABBIT's mission, you must utilize the following game dynamics: -- Finding a particular vendor -- Initiating a purchase from a vendor -- Using your inventory for storing items -- Searching large areas for player contacts -- Hyper-jumping to rooftops -- Trading items between players -- Using the map for general direction of movement -- Finding and locating specific map coordinates -- Identification of the 3 main districts by number -- Moving from district to district by phone or subway If you finish RABBIT's mission, you will receive several rewards: -- A special code for media playback (can be reused) -- An Audio CD with important coded information (can be reused) -- The location of the Media Player to playback and analyze the Audio CD contents My hope is that you will enjoy the hunt, and also enjoy the unique rewards at the end. @everyone Here is what you need to know for the mission that starts soon:

To receive and complete mission objectives you must invite each event NPC to your mission party and a mission will be initiated.
When you arrive at your objective destination, you must complete your task and invite the NPC to your mission party to complete your mission.
Due to the nature of the mechanics of missions, you may receive chat messages twice. This is normal. Don’t panic. Have fun.
One one mission team can be interacted with at a time. It is recommended you team up together or wait until the current mission team is finished to invite the NPCs.
If you attempt to invite a NPC to a mission and it won't let you, they are already in a mission party and will leave the mission party once the current player's objective is complete.
- Note: If you abandon your mission or logout, you will need to start back over with the Informant.

The following are some skills that were once required to run RABBIT's mission:

Finding and locating specific map coordinates
Identification of the 3 main districts by number These are no longer part of RABBIT's mission because the mission system functionality has been mostly restored (Thank you Rajko!). In fact, the mission system being operational has encouraged me to re-write my entire mission, which was more of a scavenger hunt than a mission before the improvements. It now flows more smoothly, and is easier for the participant to follow. There are RP improvements, group mission improvements, and some location changes as well. The reward at the end is full of juicy details that should not be missed. My new mission name and description: Hunt For The Truth - Find the truth about Morpheus and Niobe Have fun, and good luck.

A mission is available today for all operatives who want to save the historian so you can learn the truth about Morpheus and Niobe. You can run it whenever RABBIT is waiting on the Mjolnir Monument in Magog. Everyone is welcome, solo or group.

An operative just ran RABBIT's mission and helped me debug a couple of places where it wasn't clear what to do. There is no Data Disk requirement anymore to start the mission; it has been integrated into the mission so that the whole thing is now seamless. It is now a single mission that will take the operative across all 3 districts. RABBIT will be available off and on throughout this weekend. Help RABBIT hunt for and reveal the truth. (edited)

A revised and refined time-limited mission is available from RABBIT to all operatives. You will search for a way to save the historian so that you can obtain the rare records that reveal the true nature of Morpheus. To run RABBIT's mission, go to the Mjolnir Monument in Magog to seek her out. You will be invited to a mission team, and given 45 minutes to complete the mission. RABBIT will be hopping on and off the server throughout the weekend. Help RABBIT hunt for the truth.
