Subject: Matrix Field Report

I am returning to this method of communication because my last report was apparently not received. It reported Anome's death and the mopping up of Unlimit.

In the intervening time additional data points, and conclusions, are available.

Apparently the kill-code bullets which the Assassin shot were used by Agents. They obtained a few and saved them, it seems.

One rumor: They actually dug them out of Morpheus's RSI and fitted them into new cartridges.

Why these codes cannot be duplicated, we do not know. Obviously, if duplication became widely feasible, the results would be disastrous.

Another possibility: The Machines alone can duplicate the kill-code bullets, but restrain themselves from their use except in the most urgent circumstances.

This apparent confidence would indicate the Machines have an extent of control over Redpills and the Matrix greater than is generally assumed.

For all our fractiousness and anarchy, we may still be pawns on their chessboard.

Rumors abound about the missing Unlimit members: They died out of sight.

They are trapped in the Matrix in immobile forms, due to aftereffects of the elixirs.

They have new RSIs and new identities.

The second rumor has colorful details.

An Unlimit man has become a corpulent mass that fills a room to its walls and ceiling; but he cannot, for some reason, die. Some Unlimit members have been scaled down and are trapped in sewers or within walls. An Unlimit woman has turned to iron.

None of these can be confirmed and must be considered fanciful.

I await my next orders. I presume the kidnapping will generate tasks I must attend to.
